CCA comment on Pharmacy Voice closure

As one of the founding organisations of Pharmacy Voice, the CCA is disappointed that the organisation must close following the withdrawal of the National Pharmacy Association.

Pharmacy Voice brought together the different parts of Community Pharmacy, developing consensus on key issues and communicating the value of Community Pharmacy as a single authoritative voice, to make us stronger together.  We would like to take the opportunity to thank the team and acknowledge the significant legacy that Pharmacy Voice leaves to the sector; a stronger foundation of credible and compelling policy development, an enhanced profile and broader stakeholder base.

Particular areas of success for Pharmacy Voice have been around promoting the patient safety agenda, raising awareness of the sector via the Dispensing Health campaigns, unprecedented political engagement and, most recently the Community Pharmacy Forward View and Forum event which saw the launch of the report “Tackling High Blood Pressure through Community Pharmacy”.  The Pharmacy Voice Annual Review demonstrates the impact that the organisation has had in an undeniably challenging year for the sector.

With ongoing Government reforms, there is still considerable work to be done and it is imperative that the sector continues the momentum together, in a collaborative and progressive way, to secure the aspirations of the Forward View and a better future for community pharmacy, patients and the NHS.

Margaret MacRury, Chair of the CCA said, “The CCA is committed to the shared values of collaboration and respect which we demonstrated within Pharmacy Voice.  We will continue to support the transformation of pharmaceutical service provision across the country as a forward thinking, dynamic partner.”
