The CCA responded to the Welsh Government’s Consultation on draft National Health Service (Pharmaceutical Services) (Wales) Regulations 2020.
This consultation concerns the making of the NHS (Pharmaceutical Services) (Wales) Regulations 2020 which revoke and replace NHS (Pharmaceutical Services) (Wales) Regulations 2013.
Pharmaceutical Needs Assessments, which will be introduced by the 2020 Regulations, are an assessment of the availability of pharmaceutical services. Health boards in Wales will be required to conduct pharmaceutical needs assessments from 1 April 2020. Health boards will also be required to conduct the necessary processes to ensure implementation of PNAs within the determined timescale from April 2020.
The CCA believes this review of regulation is of tremendous value and extremely timely for community pharmacy as we work towards delivering a Healthier Wales.
