Letter by the Self-Care Strategy Group to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

The Self-Care Strategy Group (SCSG), of which the CCA is a member, has written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care urging the government to fully realise the benefits of self-care and work collaboratively to build an NHS fit for the future.

In the letter the SCSG calls for:

    • An expansion of prescribing rights.
    • The optimisation of digital health tools such as the NHS App.
    • Direct referrals between primary, diagnostic and specialist care services to be enabled.
    • The widening access to self-care medicines in pharmacies.
    • The expansion of public awareness campaigns with the promotion of credible health information on self-care.
