John Bacon has been appointed as the new Chair of the Company Chemists’ Association (CCA). John has over 30 years’ experience in the NHS and held a series of senior posts at regional and national level. He was head of the NHS in London and then a Director General in the Department of Health responsible for the day to day management of the NHS in England and with oversight of finance, capital investment, staff and relations with the private sector.
Over the past few years John has Chaired two large NHS Trusts and is currently Chair of a Department of Health owned property company, Community Health Partnerships. The previous CCA chair, Margaret MacRury, Superintendent Director of Rowlands Pharmacy, took on the role on an interim basis during the time of Pharmacy Voice.
John said: “I am delighted to be joining the CCA at this new stage of its development, and thank Margaret for her work in leading the CCA Board through a period of transition. With a new strategy and team in place, I look forward to working with the CCA team to help it deliver its vision that everyone, everywhere, should benefit from world class healthcare and wellbeing services provided by their community pharmacy.”
