In response to the announcement of the disbandment of Pharmacy Voice, Margret MacRury, Chair of Company Chemists’ Association has said:
“As one of the three founding members of Pharmacy Voice, the Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) is understandably disappointed that the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) has decided to withdraw from the organisation. At the outset, Pharmacy Voice was created to cut through the multi-facets of community pharmacy representation and provide unity, under the principle that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Whilst this is not a situation that we would have chosen, the constitution states that should any of the three constituent members withdraw, then the organisation cannot continue, and therefore it is with regret that Pharmacy Voice will be wound up.
With the Community Pharmacy Forward View, we have a coherent and shared vision for the future of community pharmacy. Pharmacy Voice has been instrumental in bringing this to fruition. Making it Happen, the implementation framework which sets out clearly how the ambitions of contractors and the profession can be developed, is now published. CCA will therefore continue to work with NHS England and other partners to define and develop a robust and sustainable community pharmacy sector fit for the future.”
