On Wednesday (5th November) at 11am, Malcolm Harrison, Chief Executive of the Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) will be giving oral evidence to the Lords Public Services Committee in their inquiry into medicines security.
You can watch the meeting live here.
Malcolm will feature on a panel with:
- Martin Sawer, Executive Director at Healthcare Distribution Association (HDA)
- James Davies, Director of Research and Insights at Community Pharmacy England (CPE)
Commenting on this, Malcolm said:
“I look forward to giving evidence to the Lords Public Services Committee inquiry into medicines security. This inquiry comes at a crucial time, as we have seen a sharp rise in disruption to patients caused by supply chain challenges.
There is an urgent need to invest in Drug Tariff pricing and retained margin to ensure the UK remains an attractive market to global manufacturers and can continue to secure vital medicines for patients.
Enhancing resilience is key to stabilising the medicines supply chain. The CCA has long advocated for this and has recently established the Medicines Supply Resilience Group, bringing partners from across the supply chain together with officials from DHSC, NHSE and regulatory bodies, to establish how the system can be strengthened for the future.”
The CCA’s written evidence is available to read here.
