Are you a pharmacist with an interest in local and national professional policy, looking to support the development of strategic solutions to some of the biggest challenges in Pharmacy and Healthcare in Wales?
The Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) is the trade association for large pharmacy operators in England, Scotland and Wales. We represent the interests of our members and provide a forum for them to combine their unique scale, skills, and knowledge for the benefit of patients, the public and the NHS. Our members own around 6,000 community pharmacies representing almost half of the UK community pharmacy market.
We currently have a vacancy in our policy team for a Policy and Planning Manager to provide an effective lead in all CCA policy development activities in Wales.
The Policy and Planning Manager will lead on translating policy positions into the various representational and influencing activities of the CCA, ensuring the effective representation of the CCA and its members through several external bodies, including Welsh Government, sector negotiating bodies, the professional bodies, and the professional regulator.
As our Policy & Planning Manager you will represent the CCA at various events, meetings and on external working groups and committees. Working alongside the CCA’s other specialist support working groups, ensuring that your plans and activities deliver to the overall business plan of the organisation. You will provide the secretariat support and project delivery functions for the CCA’s Welsh Management Group, a standing CCA working group focused on furthering the interests of community pharmacy and the CCA across the principality.
This is an exciting period of change for the sector, and you will support the development of models to enable better integration of community pharmacy into primary care, working closely together with local, regional, and national bodies in Wales. At the CCA we help to create the right environment for partnership working across corporate and public organisations, lead on the development of clinical services to be offered through community pharmacy and create the frameworks and tools to ensure that equality is embedded into service design and delivery.
You will need to be flexible and adaptable and able to work on several different areas of work at any one time. You will need to be self-driven and comfortable to lead through ambiguity. You will also be an analytical thinker, have an attention to detail and accuracy and be a strong influencer. Registration with the GPhC is essential as is a strong understanding of Welsh healthcare and community pharmacy policy.
