A parliamentary written answer revealed that community pharmacies have delivered approximately 33m Covid-19 vaccinations up until 20th December 2022.
Commenting Malcolm Harrison, Chief Executive of the CCA said:
“Pharmacies continue to administer the Covid-19 vaccination at pace which is further testament to the will and drive of the sector. Pharmacies have proven they can deliver the services the public and patients need, when they are supported with appropriate and recurrent funding.
Pharmacies have demonstrated their skills and willingness to deliver vaccinations. To truly unlock the capacity of the sector, we need to ensure the whole can be utilised and this includes allowing pharmacy technicians to vaccinate under PGDs.
It is increasingly clear that pharmacies can be the natural home for all vaccinations. This would bring in much needed investment into the sector but also keep people away from ever-stretched GP surgeries”.
